Three foods I'm digging

Things have been a bit berserk around the Nervous household these days, which means not only that I haven't had much time for cooking, but also that I'm a little short on updates. You know what that calls for? A little lovin' on some of my favorite foods!

Here: Enjoy a roundup of three taste sensations I've been digging lately.

Ruis, Finnish rye bread
If you know me at all, you might know how I love a bread to give good chew: If my jaw doesn't hurt a little after a few good bites, then it's practically not bread, in my mind. Well this stuff is perfect: It has that beautiful 100%-rye tang, and the perfect, dense crumb I always crave in the morning. Toasted nice and crisp, this is just the right carb vehicle for a sardine sandwich. (Serving suggestion!)

That's It, natural fruit snacks
"That's It" implies the ingredients here: Just fruit. No preservatives, no sugar, nuffin'. I discovered these through a promotion on the vegan-goodies deal site Spencer's Market, and fell in love with them. They come in three appley varieties: Apple/apricot, apple/pear, and apple/cherry. What's more? They're just the right size and just the right little midday bite. And yup: That's it.

Schoolhouse Kitchens anytime spreadable fruit
These just-sweet-enough fruit spreads are all brilliantly matched with unusual savory herbs and spices, such as strawberry with black peppercorn and, my favorite, peach rosemary. Scoop a little into yogurt for a snack, or spoon atop a cream-cheesed bagel for basically the best breakfast ever. EVER.
