It's going around…

There seems to be a surge lately of "I've lost my mojo" posts out there in the food-blogosphere, and sadly, friends, your Nervous Cook is no exception. We're all promising it's temporary; we're all blaming it on social obligations, workload, oppressive humidity, and generally being too busy living life to spend time blogging about it, and here I am raising my hand and saying, "Me too."

Me too, I'm too busy living my life to spend time blogging about it; too busy making and eating delicious food to stop long enough to snap a picture or write down an ingredients list. Most of what we're eating these days is as-is anyway: A handful of fresh strawberries; a cucumber sliced and tossed with scallions and greens in mellow white miso; peaches just barely brushed with balsamic and grilled to perfection.

You don't need a blog post about all that: You're probably doing the same things yourselves.

But rest assured I have still been cooking, still been eating, and still been writing. Those things will never change: They're as much a part of the fabric of the Nervous Cook as my anxiety in the kitchen is, and I wear them all like earned badges on a Girl Scout sash.

I'm also still taking photos, and would love it if you'd join me on Instagram: Search for justmeister. I'm also pretty noodles about Pinterest: Find me there as well.

And don't worry, all: We're bound to get our mojo back soon enough. In the meantime, let's just keep being too busy living to blog about it.

  2. I couldn't agree more! Also, I wouldn't mind it at all if you posted that cucumber salad with the white miso paste dressing... I just happen to have some in my fridge and it sounded delic!

    1. White miso + vinegar + a dash of water, whisked. Pour over pressed, chopped firm tofu to marinate (1hr).

Mix tofu and miso dressing with chopped cucumber, minced scallion + garlic, boiled edamame, and cooked/cooled udon noodles. Easy as pie!

  3. O.K., I can complain louder than you, I'm sure of it. I see "tweets" that you are working hard training for a marathon of some sort. I am usually reading your tweets and shaking my head thinking...wow...she really is on the ball. Awesome...she is training for a marathon. Yesterday...after 25 minutes of tennis...I am back at home...hugging the cold tile floor for relief! Thank goodness for hard cold tile floors in the south!

    1. Ha -- yes, I am training for a marathon. But marathon runners still gotta eat, and I should be blogging about it! Oh well...

Tennis in the south?! Bless your heart -- I can barely deal with the humidity up here, but we probably have a good 10 to 15 degrees on the cooler side than you do. Sheesh!

  4. Just have to say your pic of the strawberries has now made me want to run out of this office as fast as possible to get to a jar of my Mom's and Grandma's special strawberry jam. Yep, summer has arrived.

    1. Eating remains WAY easier than cooking, for sure!
